Frances Chandler (02-03-15)

WINDER – Frances Chandler, 92, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

Born and raised in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey H. and Desser O’Dell DeLay House. She moved to Atlanta when she was 16 years old and worked at Rich’s Department Store. She married Harold J. Chandler in 1947 and they both worked for the R&R Manufacturing Company for many years. She lived in Carl in front of Elder’s Lake from 1955 until 2009. She and her husband always had a very large garden each year and sold fresh produce to many of the local small grocery stores in and around Winder over the years. While she only had one son, she had four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Carl and later attended Bethlehem Church. She loved and was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Chandler; and a grandson, Barret Masters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Vicki Chandler, Winder; grandchildren, Damon (Tawni) Cavender, Crescent Waters, and Savannah Chandler; seven great-grandchildren, Collin (Alesa) Waters, Chase, Chance and Caitlin Waters, Kethryn, Castle and Bella Cavender; and sisters, Dorothy Marlowe, Gainesville, and Deweylene Swords, Winder.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 6, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Mr. Bill Banks and the Rev. Mike Peavy officiating. Interment will be in Carl Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Britt officiating. The Family will receive friends Thursday, February 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
