‘Bozie’ Greene (02-12-15)

JEFFERSON – Rev. Melvin Curtis “Bozie” Greene, 74, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015.

Rev. Greene was born in Commerce, the son of the late Henry and Irene Minish Greene, was retired from the UGA Electrical Department after 30 years of service as a lineman, was a minister and a member of the River of Life Church in Nicholson, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and loved to fish with his children and grandchildren. Rev. Greene was preceded in death by a son, Myron Greene; and four brothers, James, Ralph, Larry and Herman Greene.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lynda Howington Greene, Jefferson; daughter, Sandy McAllister and her husband Todd, Jefferson; brothers, Bobby Greene and his wife Pam, Jefferson, and Ray Greene and his wife Linda, Danielsville; sisters, Emma Elrod, Hull, and Fay Barnett and her husband Billy, Jefferson; and six grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Katelyn, Alexis, Colin and Faith.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 15, in the River of Life Church, in Nicholson, with the Revs. Bobby Ivester and Dennis Kesler officiating. The burial was in the Howington Cemetery with Scott Greene, Josh Greene, Hank Barnett, Austin McAllister, Tyler McAllister, and Lamar Howington honored as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Hospice House, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
