COLBERT – James Barrett Bowen, Sr. passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Mr. Bowen was born in Royston on March 21, 1942, the son of the late Charlie Barrett and Bertie Lee Bond Bowen. He was a retired truck driver, having worked with Bulldog Trucking. He was a former member of the Madison County Saddle Club and the Ila Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Bowen was of the Holiness denomination.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie Moon Bowen, Colbert; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. J.B Bowen and Paige Bowen, Bogart, and J. Scott Bowen, Comer; stepdaughter, Lillian Ann Smith, Colbert ; grandchildren, James Barrett Bowen, III and Bailey Tucker Bowen ; brothers, Jerry Bowen, Danielsville, and Larry Bowen, Royston; and sisters, Frances Kirk, Danielsville, and Louise Cheek, Royston.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday February 16, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the New Hope Worship Center Cemetery.
