ATHENS – Sara Frances “Sally” Tucker, 90, formerly of Commerce, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015.
Born in Hillsboro, Ga., on June 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late C.G. and Euel Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Tucker.
Mrs. Tucker graduated from Covington High School and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She taught home economics at Cedartown and Commerce high schools for several years. She then opened Tucker’s Little Shop, a children’s clothing boutique. She and her husband owned a popular retail store, Tucker’s Men’s Wear, in Commerce for more than 30 years.
While she loved all of her jobs, her true passion was her family. A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Tucker made her home and raised her family in Commerce before residing at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Athens for the past several years.
Survivors include children, Tim Tucker, Sautee, Tina Alexander, Atlanta, Terri Tucker, Watkinsville, and Tricia Enos, John’s Creek; daughter-in-law, Kathy Tucker; and sons-in-law, Jim Alexander and Mitch Enos; grandchildren, Ansley and Sydney Tucker, Tucker Alexander, and Wade, Courtney and Suzanne Enos; a treasured sister, Mary Claude Webb, Covington; and beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 26, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, , Athens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
