COLBERT – Felix John Lushko, 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on August 18, 1922, in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of the late Konstantin and Olga Lushko. Felix grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., until 1932, when his family moved to West Point Avenue, in Somerset, N.J. He entered the service in 1942 and retired as a First Sergeant E-8, a United States Army Veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He received an army commendation medal for meritorious service, among other certificates of achievement. Having served as a medic, he appreciated life, describing his first experience with war being the landing on Normandy Beach in France.
While in the service, Felix met Trudy Zimmer around 1947 in Germany. The couple married January 4, 1954, at Saint Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Ottawa, Canada, and were happily married for 36 years. Felix was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Trudy; parents, Konstantin and Olga Lushko; and siblings Joan Victoria Lapczynski, John Lushko, and Madeline (Midge) Sawicki.
Survivors include an older sister, Malvina (May) Kupper, Dunnelen, N.J.; younger sister, Harriet (Honey) Granski, Raritan, N.J.; and younger brother, Constantine (Connie) Luska, Martinsville, N.J.; and loving nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.
