Sherry Elizabeth Queen Carson lost a brave fight with complications from diabetes on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

She was born in Banks County on July 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Bruce and Emma Lee Welborn Queen. Mrs. Carson was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and attended Blackshear Place Baptist until her illness. She worked most of her life in the trucking and manufacturing industries in traffic management and customer service. She was also a caregiver to many who passed before her. Her most cherished jobs were taking care of her grandchild and her late husband, William “Randy” Carson.

Survivors include her only child, Terri Kellum Chase; son-in-love, Vance Chase; and pride and joy grandson, Cade Kellum Chase, Lula; grandchildren-in-love, Chelsea and Mike Beard, Gainesville, and Will and Brooke Chase, Clermont; great-grandchildren, Jake Beard and Maggie Beard, Gainesville; sisters, Gwen (Doyle) Hulsey, Jane (James) Beck, and Sandra (Chester) Hewell; brothers, Jack (Tina) Queen, Buddy (Diane) Queen, all of Gillsville, and Jeanette Queen, Lula; mother-in-law, Mary “Bobbie” Carson, Flowery Branch; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thanks to sister and brother-in-law, Jane and James Beck, and niece and nephew Wanda and Shawn Greenway for always being a step away when they were needed and visiting every week in good and bad times. Thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Summers Landing Limestone for their love, support, and outstanding care over the last 21 months. You guys loved her when we couldn’t be there. Special thanks to Lavette Cathey who stepped in as a friend and caregiver to help an only child in caregiving duties. Thanks also to Homestead Hospice, who provided compassionate care for the last six months.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 3, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Dave Channell and Dr. Phillip Kimsey will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Park North-Riverside Chapel.
