ELLIJAY – Essie Lou Wilkins, 98, formerly of Winder, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015.
A native of Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Martha Mobley Manders. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ernest Wilkins. Mrs. Wilkins was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and was a retiree of Superior Garment Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Miller, Ellijay; grandchildren, Tim Miller,
Centennial, Colo., and Barry Miller, Ellijay; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, from the Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Alan Tarr, Gerald Hudlow and Frankie Southerland officiating. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 12 noon Saturday. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 3, from 5 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
