HOMER – Erwin T. Bennett, 66, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Banks County on September 18, 1945, he was the son of Noyl and Paralee Wade Goodson of Alto.
He was a truck driver with Walpole and Curt’s Towing having been known as “Hip” or “Vern.” Mr. Bennett enjoyed riding four wheelers, watching NASCAR, football and UFC fighting. He was a member of Line Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Brenda Jean Bennett.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of 36 years, Peggy Chambers Bennett, Homer; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Casey Bennett and Joey and Kimberley Bennett, all of Homer; son, Mitchell Bennett, Cleveland; daughter, Tammy Sissum, Cleveland; sisters, Linda Hix and Claydean Coker, both of Alto; grandchildren, Bryce and Jace Bennett, Ayden and Adalynn Bennett, Candice, Paige, Layla and Kerry; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at Line Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Benfield and Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 11.
