DANIELSVILLE – Alford Sanford Carey, 63, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Mr. Carey was born in Royston on February 11, 1952, the son of the late John L. Carey, Sr. and Mary Farmer Carey. He was a truck driver. having worked for Cooper Tire and Rubber, and was a member of the Danielsville Evangelical Church. Mr. Carey was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Carey, Jr.
Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Joyce Koppenhaver, Watkinsville; granddaughter, Brittany Koppenhaver; sisters, Helen (Jimmy) Huff, Comer, and Betty West (Tim Christian), Comer; special niece, Debbie Hawks, Danielsville; and former spouse, Barbara Stone, Chatsworth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 13. The family is at 180 Strickland Christian Road in Comer.
