WINDER – James T. Murphy, 86, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015.
Mr. Murphy was born in Gwinnett County, the son of the late William and Lizzie Rockmore Murphy. He was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
On December 25, 1945, he married Carolyn Parker in Carl, Georgia. Mr. Murphy was a retiree of General Motors, where he served as a welder. He had resided in Barrow County for most of his life, where he was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church and Auburn Lodge #230 F. & A. M.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Parker Murphy; daughters and son-in-law, Joan Carol Murphy, and Jane and Steven C. McDaniel; three grandchildren, Jim Murphy, Jamison McDaniel, Corey McDaniel and Wife Amanda; and a great-grandchild, Liam McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. David Moore and Bill Hayes officiating. Interment will be in the Carl Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
