Kristi Renee Quintana Maxwell, 43, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Peachtree Christian Hospice with her husband Russ by her side.
Kristi was born April 15, 1972, the daughter of Patrick and Donna (Wilson) Quintana. She grew up in Dry Pond on the land her great-grandparents and grandparents farmed. After graduation from Jackson County High School, Kristi lived and worked in Athens until she married Russ Maxwell on September 5, 1998, in Athens. She and Russ lived in Carrollton, where she and Russ worked for Southwire. They built a home in Bowdon, and she came home to be a full time mom when their first child, Isabel, was born. James Patrick, John-Paul, Caroline and Henry were added to the family over the years. Kristi loved being a mom, they were the love of her and Russ’s life.
Kristi fought courageously for over a year to defeat the rare, aggressive cancer that took her life. When she was diagnosed with lelomyosarcoma, she moved with the children to her parents home in Dry Pond, where Donna and Pat lovingly, meticulously and without ceasing, took care of her and the five children. Her youngest child, Henry, was only seven months old.
Survivors include her husband, Russ; children, Isabel, James Patrick, John-Paul, Caroline, and Henry; brother, Mark and Rebecca, Noah, Laura, Ian, and Aaron; father-in-law, Scotty Maxwell; brother-in-law, Matt and Kay Maxwell, Trent, and Laken; sister-in-law, Leigh and Kevin Combs, Carson, and Colson; six aunts,; one uncle; 14 cousins; and a special friend, Rhonda and Don Pippin, as well as many other good friends.
Kristi was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Raford and Agnes Wilson; paternal grandparents, Merced and Flora Quintana; and mother-in-law, Linda Maxwell.
Visitation will be held May 25, from 6 to 8, at Evans Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at St. Catherine Laboure’ Catholic Church, 180 Elrod Rd., Jefferson. Interment will be at the Jackson Memorial Park in Commerce.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the educational fund for the Maxwell children, C/O Russ Maxwell, 602 Raford Wilson Rd., Commerce, GA 30529.
