ATHENS – Doris “Darsie” Shepherd Logan, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015.
Born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mamie Shepherd. Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by brothers, Julius and Billy Shepherd; and sisters, Ruth Logan and Mildred Dean. She was formally employed at Athens General Hospital
Survivors include her husband, to whom she was a faithful and loving wife of 66 years, Rev. Dayton N. Logan, Athens; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Bob and Dolores Shepherd, Morganton, N.C.; sister-in-law, Ann Shepherd, Athens; sister-in-law, Priscilla Logan, Athens; brother-in-law, Harry Logan, Laconta, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, at Friendship Baptist Church in Danielsville with the Revs. Jeff Wells and Randy Crowe and Dr. Bob Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26, at Bernstein from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Kevin Marable, Brian Marable, Bud Christian, Billy Culbertson, Ray Brooks, Eddie Galloway, and Clayton Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be our preacher friends who attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Gideon’s International, Madison County Camp, 39 Brownwood Dr., Hull, GA 30646-4000.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Michael Nelson and staff, Dr. James Splichal and staff, Athens Regional Medical Center doctors and staff, and the staff of the St. Mary’s Hospice House.
The family will be at the residence of Janice and Tommy Marable, 160 Jefferson River Rd.
