Virginia Rose Ray Smallwood lost her battle with kidney disease on Friday, March 27, 2015.
She loved and cared for every living thing in God’s creation, from her family to plants to animals. She wrapped everything with her wonderful love. Today she is strolling in the Gardens of Glory with her husband, John Herman, and her oldest son, Mike. She is more alive today than she has ever been. Now begins our interim until we see her again. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Herman Smallwood, and her oldest son, John Michael Smallwood.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Gail Smallwood Chambers (Jim), Samuel L. Smallwood (Sharon), and David Ray Smallwood (Cindy); six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Kaycee, Collin, Sydney, and Samantha, all a special delight to her heart. The icing on the cake of her joy were her three great-grandchildren, Anabel, Maddy, and Dallas.
Thank you for your prayers and condolences in the loss of our precious Mother. We have walked with her through the valley, where we felt the shadow of death and have released her to her home going with tears. We will lean on His Everlasting Arms in the coming days to heal our broken hearts.
The interment of her cremated remains will be held on Saturday, May 30. The family will host a visitation at the funeral home from 11 to 12 and then proceed to the Memorial Garden for the graveside service.
Flowers, especially living plants, and donations to The Wounded Warrior Project are encouraged in her memory.
Floral Hills Funeral Home, Tucker, is in charge of arrangements.
