WATKINSVILLE – Ovin J.M. Martin, 89, died Friday, September 21, 2012.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Will and Rosa Dixon Martin. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by five sisters; and one brother. He retired from Johnson & Johnson after 29 years of service. He was a member of Hull Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army during World War II with a medical detachment, 318 Station Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Brown Martin; children, Barbara (Lanier) Whitehead, Charles (June) Martin, Jackie (Terry) McElroy; sister, Vera Brewer; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 23, at Hull Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial was at Old Hull Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Hull Baptist Church, Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund.
