HOSCHTON – John Conley, 63, died Monday, June 22, 2015.
John Thomas Conley, 63, of Hoschton, passed away peacefully in his sleep next to his loving wife on Monday, June 22, 2015.
He was born October 21, 1951.
Survivors include his wife Sandy of 40 years; sons, Jonathan and Chad Conley; sisters, Mary McDermitt, Patty Semplice, Kathy Hart, Eileen Spencer, and Elaine Conley; and many cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
John was a Renaissance man. At various points in his life he worked as a policeman, property insurance adjustor and manager, licensed general contractor, and was even a semi-pro racquetball player. His hobbies included piloting small aircraft, tinkering with electronics and cars, watching B-quality movies, and travel. He enjoyed fixing homes and dreaming of his next trip to the red rock canyons of Arizona. John took satisfaction in roles that allowed him to connect with people. He served as a mentor, father figure, or close friend to multitudes, frequently sacrificing himself and his time for others in need.
Above all, John Thomas Conley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all. To know John was to love the person that he was.
A special thank you to the Emory ALS Clinic, Crossroads Hospice, and Norma Rios for their tender care and support. A warm hug to Skipper, John’s faithful Canine Assistants service dog.
Funeral services for John will be held at the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m.
