VIENNA – David Matthew Gifford, 63, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 17, 2015, at his residence.
He was born in Arab, Ala., the son of the late James Fred Gifford and Jeanette Putman Gifford. A retired respiratory therapist, he was employed by Athens Regional Hospital. Mr. Gifford was a United States Air Force veteran and attended the Vienna Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Cathy Ski Conner Gifford, Vienna; a son, Christopher Matthew Gifford, Commerce; three siblings and their spouses, Nancy G. and James Sturdivant, Madison, Ala., James Mickey and Shirley Gifford, Trussville, Ala., and Shelia G. Lyle, Vestavia Hills, Ala.; two grandchildren, Marcus Matthew Gifford and Preston Cash Gifford, both of Commerce; father-in-law, Preston Conner, Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 20, at the Vienna Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
