COLBERT – Irene Strickland, 90, died Monday, December 28, 2015.
A native and longtime resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Clara Spratlin Burroughs. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Troy Strickland; daughter, Janice Strickland Harrison; son, Ronal Strickland; and siblings, Rebecca, Sue, Sarah, Harry, Leroy, Spurgeon and Ruth. Mrs. Strickland was a homemaker and a member of Moon’s Grove Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include three children, Denver Strickland, Diane Adams, Arnal Strickland; five grandchildren, Denise Cartee, Dwayne Harrison, Todd Adams, Melissa Martinez, and Sam Strickland; five great-grandchildren, Nicole Harrison, Tyler Martinez, Emily Adams, Blanton Adams. and Blaine Adams; one great-great-grandchild, Elaine Fabjon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, at 11 a.m., at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will follow at Moon’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 30, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moon’s Grove Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
