CRAWFORD, GA – Reverend Robert E. H. ‘Bob’ Wagnon, 79, took hold of Jesus’ hand and stepped into eternity on Monday, February 8, 2016.
Born in Greene County Ga. on August 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Edwin Harold and Mildred Lundy Wagnon, and a retired minister and funeral director. Rev. Wagnon truly loved the Lord and good gospel singing. Over the course of his ministry, he pastored several churches throughout the state of Georgia.
For over 50 years he worked in the funeral business, passionately serving families at their greatest time of loss. In 1975 Mr. Wagnon moved his family to Oglethorpe County, where he founded Oglethorpe Chapel Funeral Home. His compassion for people and his exceptional work ethic made him the “best of the best,” a funeral director’s funeral director.
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and friend, he was a member of Collier Baptist Church, where he loved everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Collins Wagnon; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Paula Wagnon; granddaughter, Rachael (Cameron) Priest; grandson, Nathan (Crystal) Wagnon; six grandchildren, Madeline, Amelia, Evelyn, and Sophia Priest and Christopher and Cody Wagnon; step-children, Connie (Wallace) Carter, Amanda Collins, Dixon (Elisa) Collins, and Jason (Melissa) Collins; seven step-grandchildren, Helen and Leon Carter, Allen and Jennifer Reynolds, Jordon and Lindsey Collins, and Cole Collins; and one great-granddaughter, Lexie Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, at 2 p.m. at Collier Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Bunch officiating. Interment will be at Siloam Cemetery in Siloam, Ga. Pallbearers will be Nathan Wagnon, Cameron Priest, Byron Booth, George Fryar, Ted Hughes, and Ray Sanders. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Lord and Stephens East Chapel.
