FLOWERY BRANCH – James Winfred “Wint” Smith, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
He was born June 21, 1931, in Flowery Branch, the son of the late Rice and Leila Propes Smith and was the last of eight children. He was of the Baptist denomination, was retired from the City of Flowery Branch, and he had been a feed truck driver for many years. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Donald Nelson Smith; brothers, Jewel Smith and Wilburn Smith; and sisters, Mae Dodson, Dorothy Skinner, Ruth Christopher, Polly Parker, and Nell Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Vaughn Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Marcus Payne; daughter, Cindy Pamela Smith, all of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Donnie Payne, Kevin Payne, and Chris Pendley; great-grandchildren, Kevin Payne Jr. and Ashton Payne; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 23, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Flowery Branch City Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Hulsey will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 22, at the funeral home.
