Charles Hix, Sr. (12-3-13)

COMER – Charles Michael Hix, Sr., 56, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Athens on November 17, 1957, to Jo Chambers Hix and the late William “Billy” Hix, Jr. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Comer. After graduation in 1975, he went to work for Georgia Power Corporation, where he worked as a lineman for 11 years and in the meter department for nine years before retiring with 20 years of service. Following retirement, he built and operated Paoli Junction and Car Wash in Comer until 2005. Above all, his family was his passion. He was a genuine and loving father and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved ones stated.

Survivors in addition to his mother include a son, Charles Michael Hix, Jr., Comer; brother and sister-in-law, William R. and Coni Hix, Comer; nieces and nephews, Heath Hix, Matt Hix, Josh Hix, Brad Osborne, Ashley Osborne, Ava Osborne, and Brandi Osborne.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be held Saturday, December 7, at 11 a.m., at New Hope Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Ronnie Moon and Lynn Kelly, and Mike Patton officiating. Light refreshments will be served during visitation immediately following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Penfield Christian Home, 1061 Mercer Circle, Union Point, GA 30669.
