ALTO – Rev. Garry Garrison, 59 passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014.
Born in Habersham County on March 6, 1954, he was the son of the late Rev. Clyde Garrison and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Rebecca Poole Garrison. Rev. Garrison was currently employed as a plant manager at Robins Manufacturing. He was an ordained minister having been pastor at Line Baptist Church, Harmony Baptist Church, and Tates Creek Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, handy work, and cutting wood, but most importantly spending time with his family. Rev. Garrison was the former owner and operator of Cornelia Mill and Feed for 23 plus years.
He was preceded in death by children, Gregory Garry Garrison and Jennifer Rebecca Garrison; and brothers, James Aden Garrison and Farry Dwight Garrison.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Diane Smith Garrison, whom he married on July 14, 1972; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Joe Poole, Smyrna; son and daughter-in-law, Graham and Laurel Garrison, Lawrenceville; grandsons, Maxwell Poole, Luke Garrison, and Alexander Poole; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Linda Garrison, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Hugh and Fran Garrison, Cornelia, and John and Brenda Garrison, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Ron Ellington, Cornelia; mother-in-law, Addie Lene Segers, Baldwin; sisters-in-law, Wanda Garrison, Baldwin, and Gail Garrison, Cornelia; and brother-in-law, Milton Smith, Alto.
A celebration of life was held Sunday, February 2, at Level Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Brian James and the Rev. Jody Garrison officiating. Interment was in the Old Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Garrison officiating.
