God opened up the gates of heaven for our dear mother, grandmother, and friend on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
Zadie entered into life on February 23, 1933, the daughter of Mark Dennis Bruce and Willie Mae Seay Bruce. Those that she will be joining in heaven are her brothers, Carlton Bruce, Calvin Bruce, Pierce Bruce, and Grover Bruce; and sisters, Ruby Bruce and RosaMay Bruce.
Zadie was a retired seamstress from Sportsware of Commerce. She was of the Baptist denomination. Here on earth, she was loved by so many, we will always remember her smile, her laugh, and her wonderful homemade biscuits. God gained an angel today and we will always have our memories of our dear friend, mother and granny.
Survivors include a sister, Bessie Segars, Homer; children, Kathy and Kenneth Cowart, Danielsville, Elaine and Tim Sims, Arcade, and Mitchell and Margie Adams, Commerce; grandchildren, Mark and Angie Bruce, Kent and Mindy Bruce, Chad and Deserae Adams, April Adams, Terrence and Keisha Bruce, Tina and David Passmore, Jessica Sellars, Johnthan and Jessica Porter, Chris Adams, Anthony Adams, and Jason and Marie Jordan; and 26 great-grandkids.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, February 22, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Tommy Seay, Mitchell Appleby, and Julis Mack officiating. Interment will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery.
