ROYSTON – Bethel Florence Vaughn Chastain, 78, of Williams Street, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
She was born in Royston on January 10, 1936, the daughter of the late L.T. Vaughn and Mary Bell Haynie Vaughn. She was an instructor and master cosmetologist, as well as a member of the New Hope Worship Center in Danielsville. Mrs. Chastain was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lee Chastain; brothers, Haynie Vaughn, L.D. Vaughn, and Thomas “Bud” Vaughn; and sisters, Sara Lou Fleeman, Mary Nell Rousey and Leacy Royston.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Freddy and Theresa Pulliam, Royston; daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and Marshall Starcher, Royston, and Robbie and Ben Ayers, Royston; grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Chad Marcengill, Andrew and Olivia Fowler, L. Ben and Sandra Ayers, and Meredith and Scrib Dailey; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Fleming and Katie Cromer, both of Royston; and special friend, Ray Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 21, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mike Spence, Tim Beasley and Mr. Marshall Starcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 20, and from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour on Friday. The family is at the home.
