JEFFERSON – Archie Thomas Mulkey, 95, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Mr. Mulkey was born March 6, 1918, in Bremen, the son of the late Elisha Samuel Mulkey and Attie Mae Smith Mulkey. He was a retired brick mason and was a member of the White Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his by his first wife, Lurlene Johnson Mulkey; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Copeland Whatley Mulkey, Jefferson; three stepchildren, Michael Whatley, Jefferson, Mary Whatley Maddox Couch, Hiawassee, and Brenda Whatley Coile, Homer; sister-in-law, Evelyn Clelland Mulkey, Conyers; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren,; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Easterwood, Missionary Bob Johnson, and Rev. Carey Pittman officiating. The burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. Grandsons will be honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
