Vivian Drake (03-25-14)

WATKINSVILLE – Vivian Burkhalter Drake, 79, wife of 20 years to David H. Drake, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

A native of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Bradberry and Susie Rosetta Huff Bradberry. During her career Vivian worked for Citizens Pharmacy, Eli Whit, Athens Federal Savings and Loan, and Benson Bakery. She was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Drake was preceded in death by her first husband, James Franklin Burkhalter; and brothers and sisters, Bobby Bradberry, Curtis Bradberry, Talmadge Bradberry, Anthony Bradberry, Betty Jean Bradberry, and Hilda Bradberry Savage.

Survivors in addition to her husband include children, Patricia Burkhalter (Willie) Howell, Dianne Burkhalter, David (Felicia) Drake, Deborah (Charles) Elsey, and Tim (Debbie) Drake; grandchildren, Mindee Carol (Kirk) Dunagan and their children, Chase and Clay Dunagan, Christy (Darren) Jones and their son Noah Jones, Robert Mathew (Melissa) Fulcher, Yovanda Davis, Tony Drake, Danny Kincaid, Jr., Christy Pulliam, Tim Drake, Jr., and Nathan Drake; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at Briarwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Fuller Officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tim Drake, Jr., Tony Drake, Mark Pulliam, Jr., Darren Jones, Robert Mathew Fulcher, and Kirk Dunagan. The family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Advantage or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
