ROYSTON – Daniel Preston Slayton, Sr., 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
Mr. Slayton was born in Meridian, Miss., on September 24, 1929, the son of the late Daniel Preston Slayton and Mary Singleton Slayton. He was an electronics engineer having worked for Reliance Electric, and an avid member of the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Mr. Slayton was also a United States Army Veteran, having retired after 23 years of service. Mr. Slayton was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Coker Slayton.
Survivors include children, Daniel Slayton, Jr., Royston, Barbara Miller, Danielsville, and Sharlet Young, Canon; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sybil Robertson, Meridian, Miss.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, with Apostle David Coker officiating and with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday, April 11. The family is at the home.
