COLBERT – Blanche Fortson Carter, 86, died Sunday, April 13, 2014.
A native of Danielsville, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Naomi Chatham Fortson. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Elmo Carter; five sisters, Mattie Lou Bryant, Ola Bridges, Ruby Hamby, Annie Sue Roling, and Mary Campbell; and five brothers, Tom Ed Fortson, Cliff Fortson, Will David Fortson, Jay Fortson, and Darwin Fortson.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Ward (Bob), Watkinsville, Pat Pinckard (Jim), Colbert, and Regina Benson (Phil), Danielsville; grandchildren, Kay Clifton (Rodney), Comer, Chris Pinckard (Jamie), Colbert, Kevin Ward (Maggie), Bishop, and Kellie Ward, Athens; and great-grandchildren, Maura Clifton, Lauren Clifton, Kasey Clifton, Sam Ward, Haley Ward, Myles Ward, and Caitlin Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, with the Rev. Eddie Bouknight officiating. Interment will follow at Colbert Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Roling, Franklin Fortson, Barry Hicks, Gary Cobb, Cody Cobb, and John Waggoner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 16, from 10 a.m. until service time.
