Ruby Irene Seagraves Dailey, 96, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Monday, April 14, 2014, following a brief illness.

Ruby lived in Jackson County all her life until 12 years ago when she moved to Gray, Ga., to be near family. She was the daughter of the late Birdie and Mary Seagraves of Jackson County. She was a homemaker and retired textile business worker. Ruby was the oldest member of Nicholson Baptist Church. She retired from Commerce Manufacturing Company and after that she and her husband did some traveling, but mostly spent her time enjoying her family and piecing quilt tops. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren each have at least one quilt made especially for them.

Ruby enjoyed sports. She was a big Georgia Bulldog fan and attended Georgia football games until the end. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren and in later years her great-grandchildren participate in all their activities. Family was very important to her.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Thomas E. Dailey. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Nellie Tolbert, Mamie Smith and Tellie Mae Kesler and three brothers, Hoyt Seagraves, Jewel Seagraves and Amory Seagraves.

Ruby is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Beverly and Wesley Wells, Gray, and Martha Lynn and J.D. Comstock, Gainesville, Fla.; three grandsons, Tommy (Amy) Wells, Athens, Ken (Greer) Wells, Watkinsville, Jared (Stephanie) Comstock, Gainesville, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Paige Comstock, Boston, Mass.; nine great-grandchildren who were the loves of her life, Wesley, Luke, Tanner, and Zach Wells, Karlee, Kendall, Kourtney, and Kamryn Wells, and Calvin Comstock; one surviving sibling, Allie Farmer, Nicholson.
She was affectionately known as Mother, Granga, Nanga, and Na-Na by her loving family, who cherish the happy memories of her. She left us with quite a legacy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 18, at Nicholson Baptist Church with the Revs. Barry Collins and Terry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, April 17, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
