HOMER – Mary Magdelene Lewallen Brown, 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
She was born on April 18, 1927, in Banks County, the daughter of the late Floyd and Nora Lawrence Lewallen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Richmond Brown; a son, Jacky N. Brown; daughter, Linda Brown; sisters, Velma Stewart, Roberta Glozier; and brothers, Talmadge Lewallen and Billy Lewallen. Mrs. Brown was the co-owner of Brown’s Shoe Shop in Cornelia, prior to that she was employed at Carwood Manufacturing Company and Banks County Elementary School working in the cafeteria. She was a member of Habersham Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine Brown and Don Lord, Commerce, and Peggy Brown and Arthur Howard, Homer; sister, Averene Rigsby, Merryville, La.; brothers, Woodrow Lewallen, Homer, Regis Lewallen, Baldwin, Edward Lewallen, Shady Dale; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., on Friday, July 11, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with Arthur Howard, Minister and the Rev. Christopher Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.
