HOSCHTON – The Rev. Thomas Soo Young Kim, 66, of Hoschton, Georgia formerly of Potomac, Md., passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at his home following an extended illness.
Kim was born in Seoul, Korea in 1948. On December 5, 1980, Kim moved to the United States. He received his doctoral of philosophy of religion from Bethany Bible Seminary, was a professor at the Maryland Seminary College for six years, and was the senior pastor of Onnury Korean Baptist Church in Potomac, Md., for over 29 years. Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Byung Ki Kim and Il Lim Cho.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia Kim, Hoschton; sons, Peter (Eva) Kim, Hoschton, and Paul (Tristina) Kim, Austin, Tex.; two grandchildren, Audrey and Boaz Kim; brothers and sisters, Changu Choi, Changho Choi, Changae Choi, Changsun Choi and Changwan Choi.
Funeral services will be Saturday July 19, 2014 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Inhee Park officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday July 19, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Evans Memory Gardens.
