LULA – Linda Carolyn Carpenter, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
Born on June 27, 1947, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Howard Murray and Jean Garrison Murray. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a retired personnel manager with Pittman Dental Lab. She enjoyed cooking, church, and gardening, especially working in her flower gardens.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, William U. Carpenter, Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Carrie Carpenter, Lula; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Bradley Ledford, Lula; grandchildren, Will and Wes Ledford, Lula, and Kailey and Justin Holloway, Flowery Branch; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Artis Haynes, Lula; mother-in-law, Bobbie Carpenter, Lula; brother-in-law and spouse, Daniel and Donna Carpenter, Lula; sisters-in-law and spouses, Wayne and Wilda Holcomb, Baldwin, and Mike and Carol Crawford, Alto; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Fire Baptized Holiness Church Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. on Monday, August 11.
