COLBERT – We are celebrating the new body that Bobby Noel Coker, 69, received on Friday, August 22, 2014.
Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Noah and Doris Roberts Coker. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Coker. Bobby served in the United States Army from 1963-1973 as a staff sergeant and was stationed in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He was a retired Clarke County Deputy Sheriff and had served his local community in Madison County as a volunteer with the Madison County Fire Department, Madison County Emergency Medical Services, and served as a Madison County Deputy Sheriff. Bobby was a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sara Coker; two daughters, Jennifer West and husband, David, Danielsville, and Teresa Patton and husband Steve, Colbert; three grandsons, Jacob and Taylor West and Zac Patton; one granddaughter, Zoe Patton; sisters, Vicky Daniel and husband, Carlton, Oconee County, Brenda Gurley and husband, Frank of Colbert, and Tammy Hughes, Navarra, Fla.; one brother, Dennis Coker and wife, Beth, Colbert; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, August 26, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Beverly Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 25.
