JEFFERSON – Sara Nell Carder Stewart, 91, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Elisha and Ora Jane Garrett Carder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Commerce Church of God. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Woodrow Stewart; a son, Roy Stewart; sisters, Narcy Griffin and Merdelle Looney; and brothers, Lammie and Lawrence Carder.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Stewart (Howard) Willis, Jefferson; five grandchildren, Ray (Danielle) Pursley, Cocoa Beach, Fla., Johnny (Lori) Pursley, Jefferson, David (Jillian) Pursley, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kenneth (Carolyn) Willis, Maysville, and Don Willis, Maysville; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Eric Shelton and Lee Hunter officiating. The burial will follow in the Jackson Memorial Park with Johnny Pursley, David Pursley, Alijah Pursley, Clay Pursley, Roger Hill and Linward Carder honored as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Evans Funeral Home.
