CARNESVILLE – Ida Brooks Parten, 94, of Highway 145 Carnesville, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014, at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Parten was born in Royston on July 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Reeves Perry and Annie Rebecca York Brooks. She was owner and operator of Ida’s Cakes and Crafts and was a member of the Zidon Baptist Church, but attended Hunters Creek Baptist Church in Toccoa. Mrs. Parten was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn (Bill) Parten; a granddaughter, Denise (De-De) McElreath; and two brothers, Robert and Lonnie Brooks.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John and Doyie Parten, Carnesville, and Thomas and Glenda Parten, Royston; daughters and sons-in-law, Eloise Peace, Royston, Oneita and Joe McElreath, Danielsville, and Beverly and Roger Bentley, Carnesville; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and her best friend and baby, her little dog “Abby”.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, December 7, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ben Huff, Todd West, Andy Bond and Mr. Bo Crump officiating. Interment will follow in the Zidon Baptist Church Cemetery in Royston.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. The family is at the home of Beverly and Roger Bentley, 3820 Highway 145, Carnesville.
