Glenda Nicholson (12-21-14)

HULL – Glenda Carey Nicholson, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by loving family.

She was born in Madison County on January 29, 1936, and was the last surviving child of Hubert M. and Leta Mae Fowler Carey. She had three sisters, Blanche Carey, Juanita Carey Scarborough, and Bernice Carey Ingram, and three brothers, Weyman Carey, Bud Carey, and Calvin Carey.

Glenda was a loving wife, mother, and Nana who cared for everyone around her with compassion. She lived most of her life in Clarke and Madison counties and was a member of the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Glenda was an excellent cook and homemaker.

Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Thomas Nicholson; daughter, Phyllis Nicholson Tucker (Larry); son, Robert Carey Nicholson (Michelle) both of Comer; three granddaughters, Crystal Nicholson Compton (Randy), Comer, Jennifer Nation Pine (Shannon), Augusta, and Nikki Nicholson, Comer; three great-granddaughters, Marlee Abigail and Joslyn Harper Compton, and Elodie Faye Pine; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 24, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens. Interment will follow at the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Danielsville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 24, prior to the services, at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Flowers will be appreciated; however, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
