DANIELSVILLE – James Richard Haynes, Sr., 88, husband of Evelyn Hawks Haynes, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014.
A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Richard Milton Haynes and Ruby Gunter Haynes. Jim was the owner of Haynes Texaco and Danielsville Tire Service. He was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church and as a former member of Danielsville Baptist Church, he had served as Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the American Legion, Amvets, and Civitan Club. He was a true gentleman that loved and cared for his family dearly. Memories of him will forever be cherished by his wife of 68 years.
Survivors in addition to his wife include children and their spouses, James R. “Dick” (Susan) Haynes, Jr., Gainesville, George (Susan) Haynes, Dunwoody, Merrie (Grant) Gillespie, Nicholson; brother, Tom N. Haynes, Parker, Fla; grandchildren, Dawn Hooper, Paige Tanner, Emily Haynes, Tyler Arnold, and Sydney Arnold; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, at 2 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Danielsville Chapel with the Revs. Jeff Wells and Dayton Logan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund.
