Peter I. Markov was born in Trambesh Bulgaria, the son of the late John Ivanov and Maria Popova Markov.
Peter was preceded in death by a brother, Alexander Markov. He practiced medicine in Bulgaria for ten years and then immigrated to the United States in 1969.
He mastered the English language, entered a residency program and became certified to practice medicine in America. He practiced radiology in Murphy and Andrews, N.C. for 11 years, where he met and married Claudia and started a family. In 1991 the family moved to Commerce. He maintained his solo radiology practice at BJC Medical Center, now Northridge Medical Center, for 17 years. He was a dedicated physician and enjoyed participating in the Commerce medical community. He was happiest being with his beloved family. He will be greatly missed, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Olson Markov, Commerce; daughters, Ellwyn Kristina Borgan, Denver, Colo., and Stephanie Louise Wood, Montgomery, Ala.; and a son, John Peter Markov, Savannah.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 17, at noon, at Jackson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ken Powers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon, prior to the services.
