JEFFERSON – Margie Smith Chappell, 83, entered into rest Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

Mrs. Chappell was born in Wiley, Ga., the daughter of the late William J. and Maude Jones Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Yellow River Baptist Church. Mrs. Chappell was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Chappell, Jr.; grandson, Christopher Joseph Chappell; and six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Cliff and his wife Becky Chappell, Suwanee, Brad and his wife Lisa Chappell, Talking Rock, Greg and his wife Vera Chappell, Snellville; two daughters, Karen and her husband David Jaskolski, Jefferson, and Dene and her husband Randy Martin, Hoschton; three sisters, Evelyn Scarnato, Oldforge, Pa., Ellaine Chappell, Cleveland, and Carol Pickens, Clayton; a brother, Myles Smith, Clayton; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 6, from the chapel of Tom Wages Funeral Home, 3705 U.S. Hwy. 78, Snellville, Georgia, with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Burial will be in Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Snellville. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 5, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson, and again 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, February 6, at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Snellville Chapel. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Jason Chappell, Clay Chappell, Shane Martin, Josh Chappell, Pate Sheppard, and Charlie Willett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Georgia, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
