COMMERCE – Eleanor Ruth Howard Blankenship, 83, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015.
Mrs. Blankenship was born in Ficklin, Ga., the daughter of the late Guy W. Howard and Dolly Tanner Howard. Mrs. Blankenship was a member of the Dry Pond United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Jolly Agers. Mrs. Blankenship was a homemaker, but in her spare time enjoyed being a seamstress and a cake decorator. Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by a brother, Carlos Howard.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Mack Blankenship, Commerce; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Robert Bonasso, Carolina, W.Va., Judy and Andrew Brislin, Bishop, Peggy Spangler, Lawrenceville, and Sarah and Charlton Trippe, Commerce; brother, Wilburn Howard, Tucker; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m., in the Dry Pond United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Murray officiating. The body will lie in state in the Church on Sunday from 2:30 until 3 p.m., prior to the service. The burial will follow on Monday, March 9, at 11 a.m., in the Washington Cemetery in Washington, Ga.
