MADISON COUNTY, GA – O. Wendell Pickle, 95, formerly of Kosciusko, Miss., died Friday, March 13, 2015.
Wendell spent 20 years serving in the United States Army, graduated from the University of Georgia in 1963, then spent 50 years as a realtor and real estate investor, retiring January 1, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Oliver Pickle; wife Alice Hodge Pickle; and brother, Dalton L. Pickle.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat (John) Carithers, Madison County; grandson, Eric (Carla) Carithers and Jared Adams, Sylacauga, Ala.; sister, Claudia (Gene) Clark, Gillsville; nieces and nephews, Paula Clark, Cleveland, Stanley (Kaye) Clark and Bradley (Denise) Clark, Gillsville, Ann (Jerry) Eubanks, Gulf Breeze, Fla., Eunice (Joe) Strawbridge, Richland, Miss., Roger Simpson, Joe (Sandra) Simpson, and Jean Barnett, McCool, Miss.; and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors was held Wednesday, March 18, at the Church of Christ at Nile Community, Miss., with Chaplain (Capt.) David Morris presiding.
The family wishes to express its appreciation for the arrangements, caring, and hospitality extended by Avery Place, Winterville, Ga., Ivie Funeral Home, Danielsville, Ga., Culpepper Funeral Home, Kosciusko, Miss., the Church of Christ at Nile, Chaplain Morris and the honor guard, members of Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church, Ila, and numerous friends and neighbors in both Georgia and Mississippi.
Wendell requested that any memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
