WATKINSVILLE – Sally Brown Martin, 87, died Sunday, April 26, 2015.
A native of Hull, she was a lifelong resident of this area. She was the daughter of O.D. and Roberta Martin Brown and was preceded in death by two brothers, Garnett D. Brown and Roscoe Charles Brown. She retired from the University of Georgia and was a supportive and lifelong member of Hull Baptist Church, where she was active in many capacities over the years. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife of 67 years to Ovin Martin, who passed away in 2012, as well as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include three children, Barbara (Lanier) Whitehead, Charles (June) Martin and Jackie (Terry) McElroy; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 29, at 3 p.m., at Hull Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Interment will follow at Old Hull Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 28, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
