Kenneth Hickox (04-26-15)

JEFFERSON – Kenneth Neil Hickox, 77, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015.

Mr. Hickox was born in Delray Beach, Fla., the son of the late Hilton Hickox and Eunice Sallas Brokaw Hickox. He moved to Atlanta in the 10th grade, where he met his high school sweetheart and married her in 1956. He served 20 years in the United States Army, including serving in the Vietnam War where he was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars. After his military service, Mr. Hickox joined UPS. where he was the Airport Package Supervisor at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta. He retired from UPS after 23 years as a result of health problems from his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. He always said of his condition, “I wear my Parkinson’s as proudly as I wear my medals”. Mr. Hickox was a member of the Jefferson First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his sister, Linda McCormick.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Webb Hickox, Jefferson; sons and daughter-in-laws, Kenneth N. and Amy Hickox Jr., Dallas, Texas, Keith N. and Jeanne Hickox, Arlington, Va.; sister, Karyn (Steve) Folmar, Cullman, Ala., Glenda Hickox, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Gayle Pard, Canada; brothers, William Hickox and Ronald (Linda) Hickox, all of Hoboken, Ga., Ronnie Lyons, Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Reagan and Emerson Hickox and Braeden and Joseph Hickox; brother-in-law, John Dupriest, Panama City, Fla.; sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Jacobs, Fitzgerald, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends and neighbors from Northminster Estates in Jefferson, Jefferson First Baptist Church, and at the Pine Lake Baptist Church.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Helms officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in memory of Mr. Hickox to the St. Mary’s Hospice, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604, The First Baptist Church of Jefferson, P.O. Box 395, Jefferson, GA 30549, or the Pine Lake Baptist Church, 4528 Rockbridge Rd. SW, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
