BALDWIN – James Morris Free, 75, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Free was born on February 8, 1940, in Homer, the son of the late Everett and Margaret Carlan Free. He was a member of Crossroads Worship Center of Commerce. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Free was a self-employed truck driver and then served as a school bus monitor with Banks County School System. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Coley Free; daughter, Penelope Sosebee; and uncle, H.S. Carlan.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Coley Free, Baldwin; mother, Ruby Free, Homer; children and spouses, Judy and Terry Lovell, Mt. Airy, Michael and Lisa Free, Alto, Gregory and Patricia Coley, Baldwin, Timothy and Rebecca Coley, Baldwin, Anthony Coley and Chris Burnett, Gillsville; son, James Free, Baldwin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Diane Free, Homer, Dennis and Lynn Free, Indonesia; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Timothy Coley, Gregory Coley, and Anthony Coley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Hall County Sheriffs office. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, May 29.
