PENDERGRASS – Lloyd Daniel Craven, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
Mr. Craven was born in Banks County, the son of the late Thomas and Eunice Cody Craven. Mr. Craven was a retired inspector with the USDA and was a cattle farmer. Mr. Craven was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Craven Bird; brother, Herman Craven; and sister, Evelyn Smith. He was a member of the Talmo Baptist Church, past master of Johnnie’s Hill Masonic Lodge, and was the former chief and member of North Jackson Fire Department. Mr. Craven was Instrumental in the gymnasium construction at North Jackson Elementary School, where he worked with the youth and raised money hosting skating events for the initial construction costs.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Betty Gee Craven, Pendergrass; son, Mike Craven and his wife Patsy, Gainesville; grandchildren, Daniel Craven and his wife Paige, Heather Craven Stancil, Sheri Castillo and her husband Ramon, all of Pendergrass; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Paul Stancil, Serenity and Ramon Jr. Castillo, and Tyler and Paris Craven; sisters, Elinor Brooks, Pendergrass, and Edith Beatty, Gainesville and Rita Hilton, Commerce.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, at 2 p.m., in the Talmo Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Spence officiating and Mr. Clelle Kinney delivering the eulogy. The burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Craven’s nephews honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home.
