Dorothy “Dot” Sexton McDaniel, 76, passed away at her residence Friday, September 25, 2015, following a prolonged illness.
Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and spent the later portion of her life in Atlanta and Commerce. Dot, as she was known to family and friends, was the daughter of the late G.W. and Mattie Sexton. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert McDaniel, Jr.; siblings G.W. Sexton and Barbara Trott; granddaughter; Cheryl Brown; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Robbie (Johnny) Rawls, Kathy (Tommy) Sanders, Gary McDaniel, Terry McDaniel, and Rene Harmon; grandchildren, Donnetta Jaye, Denise Walls, Erica Arnett, Alicia Lummus, Jennifer McCollum, Lynn Shook, Sabrina Knight, Bubba Allen, Liane Taylor, James McDaniel, Jammie McDaniel, and Crystal Giddens; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 27, in the chapel of Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with interment next to her beloved husband, Robert, in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
Curre-Jefferson Funeral Home, Anniston, Ala., was in charge of arrangements.
