MAYSVILLE – Edna Hardy Gowder, 80, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospice House.
Mrs. Gowder was born in Lincolnton, N.C., the daughter of the late W.E. and Ola Craven Meeks. She was a member of Mayville Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Hardy.
Survivors include her second husband, Bill Gowder, Maysville; daughters, Donna Thompson, Winterville, Robin Kennedy, Commerce, and Kim Lamb, Calhoun; sons, Jeff Gowder, Homer, Keith Gowder, Fairplay, S.C., and David Gowder, Maysville; sisters, Peggy Gordon, Commerce, and Mildred Sailors, Orange Park, Fla.; brothers, James Meeks, Maysville, and Billy Meeks, Lula; 15 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, at Maysville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clay Hardy officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, October 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
