Donald Keith Veater died early Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the age of 48.
Donald was born in Norman, Okla., on June 18, 1968. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He also received a Master of Education from UGA in 1998. Donald was honored to be a torchbearer for the 1996 Summer Paralympics. A former resident of Stone Mountain, he was residing in Comer at the time of his death. Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Bettye laMar Speaks Veater; and father, Joel Gaston Veater.
Survivors include a sister, Lee Beth Burge (Chet); three nieces: Emma, Elizabeth, and Ella Burge; and one nephew, Manuel Burge.
For the last 12 years of his life, Donald received loving care from Kristy Mahaffey, Amanda Parten, and Brenda Parten, and enjoyed being part of their large and entertaining family.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, at Lord and Stephens Madison Chapel, 963 Highway 98 E, Danielsville. Visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Athens Young Life, 920 Baxter St., Athens, GA 30606, a ministry his nieces and nephew have been involved with for many years, both as students and leaders.
