HOSCHTON – Marie “Nanny” Robertson Johnson, 74, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013.
She was born in Hoschton, the daughter to the late Grady Leonard “Slim” and Maggie Matthews Robertson. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and owned and operated Winners Circle BBQ. For many years she kept numerous children of the community in her home. “Nanny” as she was affectionately called by most everyone in the community, was a member of the Walnut Fork Baptist Church and loved to cook and serve the community. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, Jeff “Grass” Johnson; and brother, Royce Robertson.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Horace Johnson, Hoschton; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Johnson Tabor and Michael, both of Pendergrass; sons, Randy “Radio” Johnson, Hoschton, and Terry “Nanner” Esco, Braselton; sisters, Demaris Anglin, Jefferson, Corine Hix, Hoschton, and Larie Robertson, Hoschton; brother, Quentin Robertson, Hoschton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 21, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Strickland officiating.
