‘Bill’ Faulkner (12-29-13)

OAKWOOD – Grady Fornia “Bill” Faulkner, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013.

Mr. Faulkner was born in Barberton, Ohio, the son of the late Fornia Grady and Ora Louise Walden Faulkner. He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps, serving in World War II and in Okinawa, Japan, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He retired from Lockheed Martin with 21 years of service and was later self-employed as an electronics technician. He was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. Mr. Faulkner was preceded in death by a son, Charles Faulkner; daughter, Bonnie Smith; sister, Nelle Gee; and brothers, J.C., Bob, Ronnie, and Buddy Faulkner.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Johnson Faulkner, Oakwood; daughter, Katherine “Kitty” Yonce, Athens; son, David Faulkner, Oakwood; sisters, Peggy Shirley, Jefferson, and Helen Brown, Acworth; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday January 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodbine Cemetery with Jody Smith, Scott Blankenship, Kiley Blankenship, Gerry Faulkner, Todd Samples, and Kenny Gee honored as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 1, at Evans Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m.
