HOMER – Mary Chapman Turner, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
She was born on July 28, 1923, in Homer, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Parson Chapman. She was the widow of Ralph Turner and was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Reid and Polly Tench; brother, Rozzie Chapman; and great-grandson, Andrew Funk. Mrs. Turner was retired from Habersham Mills with several years of service.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and James Funk, Homer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Willoree and Odell Nix, Mt. Airy, and Helen (Teddy) and Barry Taylor, Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law, Garnett and Alice Chapman, Alto; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in Banks County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 28.
